Advice to Pre-College students: Your days tend to move faster because of your athletic obligations. There will be time to have fun as well, but always remember that you are a student first, an athlete second and anything else after that is just a bonus.

January SAT Scholarship Recipients: Webster Pryce and Demacoye Maye

January 2016 RecipientsCongratulations to Webster Pryce and Demacoye Maye who were were selected as recipients of the Naima A. Stennett SAT Scholarship. This scholarship was established to recognize outstanding students in the Caribbean who wish to take the SAT to attend College in the United States.

Both Webster Pryce and Demacoye Maye both natives of Clarendon, Jamaica are past students from Denbigh High School and past participants of the John Green Memorial Match hosted by LAMB Foundation in Clarendon, Jamaica. They both have competed in soccer competition such as ISSA Dacosta Cup.

Webster describes himself as hardworking and as someone who always does his best in everything he does.

Demacoye states one of his favorite quote comes from Colin Powell: “A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes determination and hard work” and those words kept him motivated.

Both students have shown through your hard work and determination to be a student that LAMB Foundation wants to recognize and encourage to continue their athletic and educational effort. We at LAMB Foundation would like to wish them both continued success throughout their college career and on.

    From Naima A. Stennett
I am excited to be partnering with the LAMB Foundation in their pursuit in uplifting education athleticism. In support of student athletes aiming to continuing their education, I have established a SAT Scholarship Fund in 2014. In order to continue the effort of helping international student athletes excel both on the field/court and academically. This scholarship fund will provide scholarships that will cover the FULL cost of the standardized test for college admissions in the United States (SAT) so that they can have the option to receive athletic scholarships in the United States.

Presently, there are no scholarships with this specific funding available to international student athletes.  Over 10 scholarships have been awarded to date and students have gone on to attend colleges in the United states including George Mason University, Florida State College and Bluefied State College. This is my way of giving back and to help those in need to lessen some of the financial burden of those individuals who have aspirations to play in the United States and further their education. Michelle Obama once said “…when you’ve worked hard, and done well, and walked through that doorway of opportunity…you do not slam it shut behind you…you reach back, and you give other folks the same chances that helped you succeed…” This is exactly what I want to accomplish with these scholarship, opening a door of infinite opportunities.

  • Be the Difference: Naima Stennett SAT Scholarship Fund

    Picture

LAMB Foundation has partnered with Naima Stennett SAT Scholarship Fund to give back even more to the athlete’s we come in contact with each year.

This scholarship fund will provide scholarships that will cover the FULL cost of the standardized test for college admissions in the United States (SAT) for Jamaican athletes (with a focus on volleyball players), of which we will extend to others who may take the SAT in other countries that LAMB Camp is active.

Naima was born in St. Catherine, Jamaica. She attended Wolmers High school for girls where she played netball, ran track and even tried swimming but she had the greatest passion for volleyball. She is currently pursuing her medical degree (MD) at Brody School of Medicine in North Carolina.

She also got the opportunity to play volleyball for Jamaica National Volleyball junior team and senior team. Her experience with playing volleyball for Jamaica afforded her the “passport” to North Carolina Central University (NCCU) on a full 4 year volleyball scholarship at 16 where she majored in biology with a minor in chemistry.

She found out about LAMB from the founder and teammate on the Jamaica National Volleyball Senior Team Miss Lecia Brown. She was very inspired to know that an organization like LAMB was already making an impact and it further fueled her drive to start her scholarship fund.

Michelle Obama once said “…when you’ve worked hard, and done well, and walked through that doorway of opportunity…you do not slam it shut behind you…you reach back, and you give other folks the same chances that helped you succeed”
