Not only did we have more athletes participate than anticipated on the first year, but we also had great support from coaches and athletes wanting to see the scholarship match improve and grow. Please check out the highlights and information from 2015.

From this match we are pleased to announce that several athletes have been awarded scholarships to play in the US, and have already started on their first semester at their schools.

Upcoming 2016 John Green Memorial Match
Because of the great success of this event we are excited to announce on November 27th we will be having the 2016 John Green Memorial Scholarship Match once again.

We hope to see more athletes, have more university coaches present, and secure even more scholarship for the upcoming year.

BUT… We need your support to make this happen. We have started a GoFundMe that you can directly donate to and assist in making student-athletes dreams come true.

Your donation goes directly to the cause in:
    1) Providing jerseys for the athletes
    2) Providing lunch and refreshments throughout the scholarship match day
    3) Provide support for SAT scholarship for the students so they can be eligible

January SAT Scholarship Recipients: Webster Pryce and Demacoye Maye

January 2016 RecipientsCongratulations to Webster Pryce and Demacoye Maye who were were selected as recipients of the Naima A. Stennett SAT Scholarship. This scholarship was established to recognize outstanding students in the Caribbean who wish to take the SAT to attend College in the United States.

Both Webster Pryce and Demacoye Maye both natives of Clarendon, Jamaica are past students from Denbigh High School and past participants of the John Green Memorial Match hosted by LAMB Foundation in Clarendon, Jamaica. They both have competed in soccer competition such as ISSA Dacosta Cup.

Webster describes himself as hardworking and as someone who always does his best in everything he does.

Demacoye states one of his favorite quote comes from Colin Powell: “A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes determination and hard work” and those words kept him motivated.

Both students have shown through your hard work and determination to be a student that LAMB Foundation wants to recognize and encourage to continue their athletic and educational effort. We at LAMB Foundation would like to wish them both continued success throughout their college career and on.

    Scholar Athlete Spotlight: Richardo Israel

ImageWe are proud to announce and congratulate Richardo Israel on his graduation from the University of Cincinnati in December 2015. Richardo earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communications through the College of Arts and Sciences at UC.

Richardo began his career as a scholar-athlete in the fall of 2011 when he was awarded a full athletic soccer scholarship to the University of Cincinnati. He got off to a great start his rookie season earning all-league honors after his first year.

As a defender, Richardo started all 18 matches for the Bearcats; helping the Bearcats to a school record six consecutive shutouts from September 14th-October  3rd. He earned a spot on the BIG EAST All-Rookie team for his efforts, the second-straight season a UC player made the postseason team.   The subsequent season he was one of 13 players selected to the league’s Preseason All-Conference by The American Athletic Conference (formally Big East Conference) selection committee.

Richardo is also a proud graduate of Lennon High School in Mocho, Clarendon and a former member of Jamaica’s U20 national team to participate in the 2011 FIFA U20 World Cup qualifiers in Guatemala. He also helped Jamaican club Sporting Central to a U21 championship.

  • John Green Memorial Scholarship Match Recap

John Green Memorial Scholarship Match Recap

playersPhase I of the 2015 Inaugural John Green Memorial Scholarship match was a success. A success from the context of turn out first of all. 26 scholar athletes were registered in advance. Over 50 scholar athletes showed up representing approximately 14 different high schools across central Jamaica and Kingston. That did not diminish the quality of football on display. In fact it added to it. Some talented players that were not well known and registered had an opportunity to display their talents.

The level of discipline on and off the field on the day was very high. That was aided by the presence of FIFA certified referees and coaches from several of the high schools to showed up to support their players. The weather was a warm 85 degrees throughout the day with no rain. The facilities were of a high quality.
