Congratulations to our 2016 Soccer Scholarship Student-Athletes

In 2015, LAMB Foundation hosted its first annual John Green Memorial Scholarship Match. Not only did we have more athletes participate than anticipated on the first year, but we also had great support from coaches and athletes wanting to see the scholarship match improve and grow. Please check out the highlights and information from 2015.

From this match we are pleased to announce that several athletes have been awarded scholarships to play in the US, and have already started on their first semester at their schools.

    CONGRATULATIONS

Upcoming 2016 John Green Memorial Match
Because of the great success of this event we are excited to announce on November 27th we will be having the 2016 John Green Memorial Scholarship Match once again.

We hope to see more athletes, have more university coaches present, and secure even more scholarship for the upcoming year.

BUT… We need your support to make this happen. We have started a GoFundMe that you can directly donate to and assist in making student-athletes dreams come true.

Your donation goes directly to the cause in:
    1) Providing jerseys for the athletes
    2) Providing lunch and refreshments throughout the scholarship match day
    3) Provide support for SAT scholarship for the students so they can be eligible

If you have additional questions, please contact Brian James via email at bjames@lamb-foundation.org

Advice to Pre-College students: Your days tend to move faster because of your athletic obligations. With that being said, I find the most important thing about being a student athlete is time management. There will be time to have fun as well, but always remember that you are a student first, an athlete second and anything else after that is just a bonus.

  • LAMB Camp 2013 Jamaica

    Picture

Another year has gone by and we have come to the end of another summer which means we had the privilege of hosting our 2nd annual LAMB Camp in Jamaica for 2013. The kids turned up bright and early in the morning and camp was on its way. The camp hosted kids from a variety of schools and covered all aspects of the game from passing, defense, blocking to hitting.

We also had a discussion session with the campers where they were made aware of what it takes and what they need to do to get to the next level by our founder and camp director Lecia Brown, who is a member of the Jamaica National Volleyball Team and a former professional player that played 2 season in Poland winning MVP and #1 blocker titles. The camp saw awards going to Erica Harris, Cavell Williams, Ronalee Thompson, Sodeika Smith and our most outstanding camper of the day went to Avielle Jones.

We here at LAMB Inc would like to say a big thank you to all the people that made LAMB Camp in Jamaica a big success again this year. A big shout out goes UWI for stepping up at the last minute to provide the venue to host the camp, because of a minor issue with the previously booked venue we had to change venues in the end.

    SPECIAL THANK YOU

We would like to say a special thank you to all our donors that donated to make LAMB Camp 2013 Jamaica a success. To all our campers that showed up and showed out to make the camp possible and to our volunteers and coaches that devoted their time and energy to helping the kids develop their skills for the game that they love. We all say thank you.

    SPONSORS/SUPPORTERS

If it were not for our sponsors and great supporters this camp would not be possible we would like to thank you and we look forward to working with you more in the future.

  • 2nd Annual LAMB Volleyball Camp in Jamaica.

For the second year, LAMB Foundation will be hosting a 18 and under volleyball camp. We would like to reach out to young, talented and athletic girls under the age of 18 years who embody the drive, dedication, passion and coach-able attitude to excel in the sport. We want to give these young talents the best possible outlet to obtaining a full scholarship by giving them one on one attention through our LAMB Inc camp.

We initiated LAMB Camp in August 2012, at the GC Foster College of Sports and Physical Education as a one-day camp. For the inaugural staging of the camp, we had a great group of young players and dedicated coaches. With the overall success achieved at the camp we wanted to give these players more time to develop.

The LAMB Inc camp offers a more pragmatic approach to learning the various aspects of volleyball, as it not only introduces and expands on the basics of volleyball, but also surround the players with avenues to see success in volleyball. Our camp will involve a live panel discussion with a high school volleyball team in the United States, as well as detailed discussion of the process to take the sport to the next level.

We are kindly asking for player nominations with the potential to take volleyball to the next level. Please evaluate not only the players with the technical skills of volleyball but also through height, jumping ability, and quickness. We are also open to netball and basketball players interested in exploring volleyball having the qualities mentioned.

The camp will be held in Jamaica on August 16th and 17th, 2013. Due to the nature of our camp and our focus to have 2:1 player to coach ratio, we will not be able to host everyone. However, we hope that in the near future we can expand our camp to accommodate more athletes.

We will be serving lunch, and a post practice meal. In addition  nourishment will be provided throughout the camp.  In addition, individuals who have financial issues may contact us to be compensated for their travels. We do not want the opportunity at hand to be missed because of an uncontrollable circumstance.

If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to contact Lecia Brown via email at lamb@lambinc.org or Kamille Dwyer at +1-876-469-2549.

On August 10th, LAMB Camp launched the first camp for under 18 females at G.C. Foster College. The camp aims to help with the development of youth and junior volleyball in addition to opening their opportunities to universities.

The camp had 16 young women and 2 young men who energetically completed a day camp from 9 am to 5 pm. Photos will be uploaded soon at http://www.lambinc.org/lamb-camp-jamaica-2012.html as well as a fun bloopers video at http://youtu.be/9mQ9FqD_Vrg.

    SPECIAL THANKS!
We would like to especially thank Juici Beef Patties for their donations of patties to help fuel our young athletes on this day. We would also like to thanks G.C. Foster College for allowing us to use their gym, as well as putting forth the partnership we will continue together each year to have G.C. Foster College be a venue for LAMB Camp.
