While she focuses on helping LAMB Foundation, she also is a Kenyan Native and young philanthropist wanting to change her home.<\/p>\n<p>Thus Daugthers of the Nile (DON) was born. They are group of young professional women with the collective interests of the people of the Lake Basin.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong>The Beginning<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>DON was started in January 2015, by 20 young women from various counties in Kenya for purposes of empowering the youth, promoting and acceptance of youth in\u00a0enterprenual\u00a0circles and bringing together young women to share ideas and interact.<\/li>\n<li>DON works in solidarity with the youth connecting their voices, sharing ideas, spreading inspiration to eradicate poverty and ensure social justice prevails.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><br \/>\n<strong style=\"line-height: 1.5; font-size: 13px; background-color: initial;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Objectives<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><u>Developing capacity<\/u>:-\u00a0To enhance the skills and knowledge of the members and other youths.<\/li>\n<li><u>Networking<\/u>:-\u00a0To encourage national and regional networking on issues that empower the youth.<\/li>\n<li><u>Empowering<\/u>:-\u00a0To empower the youth to claim their rights on agreed priorities.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Becoming a Member<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Any woman over the age of 18 is eligible to be a member upon payment of the registration fees i.e. Kshs.1,000.00.<\/li>\n<li>All members pay a monthly subscription fee of Kshs. 1000.00.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><br \/>\nWhy DON?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Through the DON Programmes, young Kenyans especially women will be empowered to access new information, skills, and economic opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>All of DON\u2019s efforts are designed to foster confidence in young Kenyans and build their capacity to respond to their experiences by beginning to heal, demanding their rights, and seeking a life of dignity.<\/li>\n<li>Through the DON Programmes, these young Kenyans will not only become self-sufficient but will also be able to mobilize resources and advocate for other community members to overcome poverty and other barriers to success.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Find out More<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nFacebook:\u00a0<a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Daughters-of-Nile-DON\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Daughters-of-Nile-DON<\/a><br \/>\nWebsite:\u00a0<a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/daughterofnile.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/daughterofnile.wordpress.com\/<\/a><br \/>\nTwitter:\u00a0<a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/communityofdon\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/twitter.com\/communityofdon<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<hr style=\"width: 100%; clear: both; visibility: hidden;\" \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the great advantages of working with LAMB Foundation is the ability to come across many individuals in their own walks of life&#8230; making a difference.
