National Women’s Equality Day: Honoring Women in Leadership
National Women’s Equality Day: Honoring Women in Leadership
On August 26 of every year, celebrating National Women’s Equality Day reminds us to honor society’s remarkable women in leadership who continue to pave the way for change. This is especially true for us at the LAMB Foundation, a woman-founded and woman-led nonprofit organization, dedicated to providing scholarships, athletic training, and healthcare programs to African youth and communities. This year, we proudly shine the spotlight on one of our board members and leaders! She is a woman whose resilience, compassion, and motivation empowers and inspires those around her. As we share her story, may you be inspired to thrive in your own journey!
Meet Lotoya: A Voice for Inclusion and Empowerment
LAMB Foundation proudly presents Ms. Lotoya Simpson! Her passion for helping people thrive at work and within the community has led her to effectively carry her role as a Human Resource Officer. “As an HR Officer, I enjoy supporting employees, solving workplace issues, and building a positive, inclusive environment where everyone feels valued… My goal is to make a positive impact both inside and outside the workplace.” Lotoya believes in the importance of giving back to the community. That’s why she engages and stays connected with the people through outreach, volunteer work, and partnerships that strengthen both the LAMB Foundation and the people around it.How Overcoming Challenges Led to Finding Her Purpose
It is truly remarkable that when asked about her career, Lotoya always describes her roles and responsibilities as things that she enjoys. This shows that she doesn’t show up merely out of obligation, but out of love and purpose. “My path into Human Resources wasn’t straightforward. Early in my career, I faced several personal challenges, including self-doubt and uncertainty about where I truly belonged professionally.” Like most of us, Lotoya experienced a work environment lacking in support for its employees. At times, she felt that her potential went unrecognized and there was no opportunity opened to her to invest in her growth. The dismissive air she received from her supervisors made her feel demoralized, to the point of questioning her own abilities and worth. “But instead of letting that define me, I used it as fuel,” Lotoya recounts. This situation made her realize the importance of having leaders who uplift those who are under their care. “That experience became my turning point. I decided I wanted to be part of the change. I pursued a career in HR so I could be the kind of support I wished I had: someone who listens, encourages growth, and helps build healthier workplaces.” After building up her skills and taking every opportunity to learn, Lotoya is now a woman of influence, serving in roles where she could directly impact employee well-being and work culture. “I also became involved in community outreach because I believe the values of care and inclusion shouldn’t stop at the office door.”What a Woman Can Do!

Serving with the LAMB Foundation
“Since 2016, I have been deeply committed to serving my community and making a positive impact in the lives of others.” That passion is what brought Lotoya to the LAMB Foundation, where she found the space to turn her values into action. With the LAMB Foundation, Lotoya has supported initiatives that not only uplift individuals but also strengthen entire communities. It enabled her to combine her background in HR with her commitment to outreach and inclusion. “I’ve helped organize wellness workshops, taken part in volunteer projects, and worked to expand opportunities in communities such as Moores and White Marl [Jamaica] by partnering with local groups. Joining LAMB Foundation represents an opportunity to channel my passion, skills, and experiences into purposeful work that drives real change.” Lotoya’s work ethics and values are centered beyond immediate impact that doesn’t last. She firmly believes in building a legacy of hope, inclusion, and opportunity for future generations.
